Get Help with Anxiety
You're not new to this. You've got the breathing app, the supplement someone swore by, and a running mental list of everything you're supposed to stop worrying about. You've told yourself to relax approximately nine thousand times. And you're still lying awake at 2am running the same loop about an email you sent on Tuesday.
Here's the thing nobody tells you: anxiety is not a willpower problem. You cannot logic your way out of a nervous system that's convinced you're in danger. Your body is doing exactly what it learned to do, usually for very good reasons, and it's going to keep doing it until something actually teaches it otherwise.
What anxiety actually looks like
It's rarely the panic attack in the grocery store, though sometimes it's that too. More often it's quieter and harder to explain to people:
The constant low hum. A background dread you can't trace to anything specific. Something feels off, and you can't tell if you're anticipating something or just used to bracing yourself.
Overthinking every interaction. Replaying conversations, scanning for the moment you said the wrong thing, drafting the text seven times before you send it.
High-functioning on the outside. You hit the deadlines. You show up. Nobody would guess how much it costs you to look this put together.
Your body keeping score. Jaw tension, stomach issues, shoulders somewhere around your ears, exhaustion that sleep doesn't fix.
Decision paralysis. Every option has a downside you've already mapped out in detail, so you make no decision and feel terrible about that too.
Needing to be ready for everything. Contingency plans for contingency plans. If you can just think it through thoroughly enough, nothing bad will catch you off guard.
If you read that list and thought "that's just my personality," that's worth talking about. A lot of what gets called being a worrier or a perfectionist is a nervous system that's been stuck in high alert for years.
How we work with anxiety
We start with your nervous system, not your thoughts. Most people arrive already knowing their worries aren't rational, and that knowledge has never once made the worry stop. So instead of arguing with your brain, we work on helping your body learn it's actually safe. That means learning to notice yourself in a new way and learning to regulate your system.
From there we get curious about where the anxiety came from. Usually it made complete sense at some point. Hypervigilance is a skill when you grew up reading the room to stay safe, or when you learned early that being perfect was the price of being okay. It's just running now in a life that doesn't require it anymore.
We use EMDR, parts work, and nervous system focused approaches, which means we can get at the stuff underneath instead of just managing the symptoms on the surface. And we go at your pace. You don't have to dig into anything you're not ready for.
What starts to change
Not "you'll never feel anxious again." Anxiety is a normal human alarm system and you want a working one. What we're going for:
The 2am loop gets shorter, and eventually stops showing up most nights
You notice anxiety rising and have something to do about it besides white-knuckle through
You can make a decision without auditing it for a week afterward
Your body starts to settle, and you realize how much tension you'd normalized
You stop preparing for a disaster that isn't coming
Are we a good fit?
We offer online anxiety therapy to adults across North Carolina. Sessions are fully virtual and HIPAA compliant, so you can do this work from your own couch.
We're a good fit if you're dealing with generalized anxiety, social anxiety, panic, health anxiety, perfectionism, or the kind of high-functioning anxiety that doesn't look like anything from the outside. If you're in crisis or need a higher level of care than weekly outpatient therapy, we'll help you find the right support instead.
Let's start with a conversation
You've been handling this on your own for a long time. That's not a character flaw, and it's also not the only option.
Schedule a free 15 minute consult and we'll talk about what's going on and whether we're the right fit.
